Recycling Yard Supervisor

City: Regina / State: Saskatchewan

Job Description and Responsibilities

 

The Recycling Yard Supervisor is responsible for directing the day to day operations of a scrap metal recycling yard, including the supervision of employees engaged in the daily intake, processing and shipment of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. The Yard Supervisor will also ensure that the site remains safe and environmentally compliant, while effectively and efficiently working within the guidelines of the administrative policies and procedures of the company.

 

  • Follows company policy and procedures and leads by example for the rest of the employees
  • Ensures policies and procedures are communicated and implemented at the site level
  • Promotes a clean, safe, and environmentally compliant site for employees and customers
  • Ensures scrap product piles are separated and organized
  • Records loading and unloading of rail cars while ensuring freight utilization (cars and trucks are loaded to capacity)
  • Using Kronos, oversee and submit employee hours
  • Maintains records of employee training, discipline and production 
  • Other duties as assigned



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum of a 3 years' management or leadership experience in industrial manufacturing, automotive, distribution or retail
  • Able to communicate with employees and customers and resolve any issues in a courteous manner
  • Able to handle multiple priorities while performing quality work in an efficient manner with minimal supervision
  • Physically capable of fulfilling all the tasks associated with the position
  • Able to work required hours which includes evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • A proven history of reliability 
  • Basic office and computer skills
