Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Welder to join our team at our Pueblo, Colorado location.  Skilled in the craft of welding and fabrication, the Welder’s primary function is to provide necessary support to all areas of the mill.  This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent, Manager of Safety, General Supervisors and Mill Maintenance Supervisors.

Job Responsibilties:

  • Machines, Equipment & Materials Used: All shops machines and equipment, mobile equipment of every kind, all structures, production equipment, Appropriate hand, power and measuring tools, prints and drawings and necessary safety equipment. Machinery equipment, tools and materials that are used by welders and fabricators.
  • Reads prints, plans work, procedures and techniques, and obtaining and moving of materials, tools, and equipment. Operates all equipment needed to complete the job. Directs others in conditioning and preparation. Observes lockout procedures. Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Performs routine maintenance and assists Maintenance personnel.



Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess an Associate Degree in welding or have completed a welding apprenticeship.
  • Minimum one year experience in fabrication and welding.
  • Valid Colorado Drivers License

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Welding Certifications desired.
  • Experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining; or experience working with machinery, equipment operation or a closely related field.
  • HS Diploma or GED and a demonstrated pattern of stable work history
  • 12 Months experience in Machine Operation and General Labor. 

Essential Physical Activities: Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, carry, finger, Grasp, feel, talk to communicate, speak over public address system, hear, and make repetitive motions. Needs to see to read prints and to weld. Constantly exerts forces up to 100 pounds to lift, carry, push and pull.

Work Conditions: Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Exposed to elevated noise levels and vibrations, and extreme cold and heat. Physical Hazards – working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat and hot surfaces. Atmospheric conditions may require use of a respirator or dust mask.
