Job Description and Responsibilities

 

The Technical Training Supervisor provides supervision, coordination, and records management services for technical training as defined by the site technical training plan. The Supervisor leads the development and execution of the plan with regard to and in alignment with applicable legislative requirements, accreditation and site standards, and the operational business plan.

This position reports directly to the site leader and functionally to the Technical Training Manager. Within the scope of the technical training plan, the Supervisor is specifically accountable for the establishment of standards, conveyance of skills and knowledge, and daily reinforcement of standards. This position is highly collaborative and requires close partnership with Operations, Health Safety and Environment (HSE), Quality and Human Resources.

 

  • Accountable for planning, coordinating, executing and continuously improving the overall technical training plan for the site
  • Accountable for planning, assigning, and supervising the work of the site technical training personnel to ensure successful execution of programs
  • Accountable to ensure compliance with applicable legislative requirements, company policies, and accreditation standards
  • Accountable to establish standards by engaging operators and improvement leaders to build, validate, and continuously improve on standard work. Connect with HSE and Quality functions to incorporate key attributes, and to organize, control, and ensure accessibility of standards
  • Accountable for conveying skills and knowledge across platforms (classroom, meetings, on the floor) and through various media and techniques (presentations, interactive workshops and events, visuals and tactile samples) to design and provide training. Provide coaching and support in a “train-the-trainer” capacity to develop trainer skills
  • Accountable to reinforce standards by influencing leadership’s use of standards in daily management activities. This could include assisting in trouble-shooting or problem solving, using the standards to guide the process and modifying behaviours or standards, as applicable

 



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum 2 years' previous experience in adult education and/or technical training facilitation
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally at all levels of the company
  • Exceptional speaking and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills; Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement training, an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with additional training and development software and/or Learning Management System (LMS), an asset
  • Previous experience in training requirements identification, curriculum design, and materials development, an asset
  • Certification, such as Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+), a strong asset
