Job Description and Responsibilities

As a Sales Engineer you will be responsible for identifying opportunities for new product development. You will lead projects in the development and optimization of as-rolled and heat treated plate products. In addition, you will also provide technical support to the Sales team in promoting and developing strategic applications for Evraz flat products. 
 
Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate development projects pertaining to the production and processing of hot rolled steels and heat treated products for plate applications 
• As part of the Sales Business Development Team, collaborate with Sales Force, Technical Services and Research & Development to establish product development priorities
• Arrange and coordinate trials in the steel facilities and track production
• Working with Technical Services Metallurgist, establish test plans, ensure data is collected to assess performance and oversee analysis of results 
• Communicate results and recommend further actions
• Work with Marketing Communications in developing datasheets for new products
• Provide technical support to Sales in promoting new products, developing new applications and addressing technical inquiries 
• Acting as the technical liaison between manufacturing and the customer’s engineering and quality groups



Job Requirements

As a Sales Engineer you must have strong communication skills with the ability to provide effective presentations to management regarding project timelines, results and next steps. You must have strong relationship building skills and the ability to work well with a variety of professionals.
 
Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in metallurgical/materials or other technical engineering field
• Preference will be given to candidates with a strong knowledge of steel physical metallurgy and mechanical property assessment
• A general knowledge of steelmaking, hot rolling and heat treating practices is also required
• Knowledge of ballistics, welding procedures, metal forming and coating technologies would be beneficial
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant industrial or research experience is desirable
• Candidates must be proficient in verbal and written English and exhibit good presentation skills
• Experience writing technical reports summarizing key findings and identifying next steps
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Job Requirements

Reqirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in metallurgical/materials or other technical engineering field
  • 5-7 OEM experience in a heavy manufacturing industry
  • Proven experience and knowledge of steel physical metallurgy and mechanical property assessment • A general knowledge of steelmaking, hot rolling and heat treating practices
  • Knowledge of ballistics, welding procedures, metal forming (steel), steel processing (major cutting, fuel/gas cutting), forming (how customers for our materials for assembly) and coating technologies
  • 7-10 years of relevant industrial or research experience
  • Experience writing technical reports summarizing key findings and identifying next steps
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Comfortable delivering presentations to upper leadership
  • Must have strong verbal and written skills
  • Great interpersonal skills and partners well with others
