Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a General Supervisor of Quality Assurance to join our Steelmaking team located in Pueblo, Colorado.  As a General Supervisor of Quality in the Melt Shop you and your team will be responsible for insuring the product quality of our Steelmaking processes meets or exceeds that of customer expectations and governing quality registries (ISO). This position reports directly to the Superintendent of the Melt Shop.

 

  • Direct, manage and coach a team of employees in a safe, fast paced, efficient and high quality environment for the manufacture and shipment of Steelmaking Mill products
  • Ability to lead cross functional groups through complex situations to achieve specific goals
  • Capable of analyzing strategic goals and breaking them down into manageable projects
  • Must be a team builder with record of gaining engagement with both hourly and management contributors
  • Ability to drive quality and yield improvements through the use of KPI’s in conjunction with lean techniques such as 5s (6s including safety), mistake proofing, visual standard work, value stream analysis
  • Constantly focused on continuous improvement through removal of waste
  • Ability to work with the production and maintenance groups to increase yield through quality improvement methodologies
  • Implement automation and process control projects where necessary to improve product quality and personnel safety
  • Management techniques must include EVRAZ Way methods (KPI’s, goal setting, 6-S, accountability, feedback on performance while treating employees with dignity and respect
  • Developing monitoring and refining process control practices
  • Assuring consistent compliance with dimensional, surface and mechanical and metallurgical specifications
  • Develop, Implement and Document, inspection practices
  • Supervising the Quality Assurance group
  • Work with Operations, maintenance and sales on customer, quality performance issues
  • Maintaining required ISO certifications
  • Insuring that QA inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained in proper working order
  • Daily interaction with the Steelmaking management staff is a must as is participation in the overall successful management of the Steelmaking Mill



Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in material science or metallurgy or equivalent of 10 years of experience in Steelmaking Mill manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing of Steel and Casting
  • Experience with ISO quality systems
  • Strong time management and organizational skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with proven interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.           
  • Strong problem-solving and proven decision making skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Ability to interact with all levels of our organization
