Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ NA is looking for a motivated Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our North America team to facilitate the development and growth of purchasing department personnel across the company. 

  • Coordination of training and continuous improvement efforts to enhance process and personnel performance across the company
  • Direct and oversee strategic purchasing related activities and functions ensuring compliance with ISO standards
  • Responsible for the selection, training and safety of all people working in the purchasing role across the company
  • Ensure the compliance of the sites with all EVRAZ policies and procedures and to ensure that all purchasing operations are compliant.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate vendor relations, lead and assist in negotiations with suppliers
  • Ensure that “best practice” procurement procedures are followed regarding source selection, soliciting bids, cost/price analysis, negotiations, and the development and issuing of contracts, contract administration, negotiating adjustments with suppliers and the termination of contracts
  • Identify opportunities for procurement efficiencies through tools such as EDI, EFT, ERS, etc.
  • Negotiate contracts for Capex projects and work with purchasing agents/supervisors and engineering upfront in developing the sourcing strategies for projects and assists with the purchasing of capital items and service throughout EVRAZ operations in North America
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the procurement departments across the company
  • Create a cross-functional team that supports internal customer needs and goals
  • Contract negotiation for major commodities and services; review and approve all contracts for MRO items, including strategic purchasing
  • Partner with internal customers to provide support as requested on various ongoing projects
  • Create measurable KPI’s for staff and reporting tools to report department successes to senior management
  • Create synergies with colleagues in the US and Canada to explore leveraged buying opportunities
  • Work closely with colleagues to refine operations, structure, and staff engagement across North America
  • Assist with the selection of strategic sources of supply for company’s assets across North America
  • Interface with legal on all agreements as necessary
  • Participate and ensure compliance of the purchasing group on strategic purchasing initiatives (SPI), working with stakeholders to identify areas of opportunity for SPI projects
  • Provide feedback and training through our corporate human resource systems to ensure employees are recognized for their contributions to the team on a quarterly basis
  • Close work with the purchasing team of EVRAZ Russia on joint purchasing projects, suppliers related information exchange, category strategies
  • Cooperation with the purchasing team of EVRAZ Russia on joint technical audits of existing and new suppliers globally
  • Establish and lead of suppliers assessment and technical audit process including on-site visits, score cards, technical assessment, approved supplies list finalization



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Degree or related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in purchasing function in heavy manufacturing & multi-tasking environment
  • Familiar with Best Management Practices of Purchasing, including negotiating, contracting and supplier management
  • Special knowledge in major categories like alloys, refractory, graphite electrodes, mill rolls, etc.
  • Familiar with suppliers market for ferrous metallurgy across the world
  • Experience with ERP & Oracle Financial systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have time management and organization skills
  • Previous management/leadership experience
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Foreign languages knowledge
  • Must be detail oriented
