Job Description and Responsibilities

 

We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates for immediate placement as a Senior Purchasing Manager in our Regina, Saskatchewan facility. The successful candidate will provide both operational and purchasing support for management at Evraz Regina through responsible management of the procurement of raw materials, components, supplies and services essential to company operations. The Senior Purchasing Manager will initiate cost reductions through effective sourcing, oversee contract administration, standardize material spend and provide analysis for the group. They will develop long-term procurement strategies to assure continuous supply and timely procurement of materials.

  • Facilitate the development and growth of purchasing department personnel, coordination of training and continuous improvement efforts to enhance process and personnel performance
  • Direct and oversee purchasing related activities and functions ensuring compliance with ISO standards
  • Responsible for the selection, training and safety of all people working in the purchasing role at the Regina site.
  • Ensure the compliance of the sites with all EVRAZ policies and procedures and to ensure that all purchasing operations are compliant.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate vendor relations, lead and assist in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Ensure that “best practice” procurement procedures are followed regarding source selection, soliciting bids, cost/price analysis, negotiations, and the development and issuing of contracts, contract administration, negotiating adjustments with suppliers and the termination of contracts.
  • Identify opportunities for procurement efficiencies through tools such as EDI, EFT, ERS, etc.
  • Negotiate contracts for capital/construction projects and work with purchasing agents/supervisors and engineering upfront in developing the sourcing strategies for projects and assists with the purchasing of capital items and service throughout the Alberta EVRAZ operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the procurement department.
  • Create a cross-functional team that supports internal customer needs and goals.
  • Contract negotiation for major commodities and services; review and approve all contracts for MRO items, excluding strategic purchasing.
  • Assist with the selection of strategic sources of supply for Regina.
  • Interface with legal on all agreements as necessary.
  • Participate and ensure compliance of the purchasing group on strategic purchasing initiatives (SPI), working with stakeholders to identify areas of opportunity for SPI projects.
  • Manage all Purchasing staff in Regina and ensure that company objectives are met.
  • Provide feedback and training through our corporate human resource systems to ensure employees are recognized for their contributions to the team on a quarterly basis.



 



Job Requirements

 

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • 5-7 years experience in purchasing function in heavy manufacturing & multi-tasking environment
  • Familiar with Best Management Practices of Purchasing, including negotiating, contracting and supplier management
  • Experience with ERP & Oracle Financial systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have time management and organization skills
  • Previous management/leadership experience
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Must be detail oriented
