We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ North America is looking for Senior Accounting Manager who brings leadership, strong problem solving skills, and work ethics to our team. Based in Portland, this position is a key member of our Business Unit (BU) and EVRAZ US Finance groups, and is a business partner to the BU operations team; the role partners with BU Sales, Operations, Production Planning and Purchasing. The position is a key member of the accounting team, and  BU and the North America FP&A group. Responsibilities include directing and overseeing the accounting team with the focus to support achievement of business and department goals. This position reports to BU Director, Finance.

We are looking for an individual who brings leadership to the team, strong publicly traded company accounting experience, energy to the task at hand, takes charge for their professional career, and creates opportunities for advancement by bringing value to the BU accounting, finance and operations team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for leading monthly accounting close processes including review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations
  • Establishes and monitors internal controls
  • Responsible for all aspects of inventory management and accounting
  • Responsible for reviewing monthly financial statements for accuracy and reasonableness. Performs investigation and problem solving of financial transactions. Conducts detailed monthly financial analysis of cost, sales, key business indicators and other financial measurements
  • Assists with forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting of the Portland BU
  • Assists with managing BU working capital
  • Assists with preparation of business case scenario analysis
  • Assists with preparation of return on investment analysis
  • Supports strategic and tactical planning process/analysis
  • Supports the North America Finance Team, and BU, on cross functional projects, with ad hoc requests, special business-related studies and financial analysis, as needed
    • Supports Consolidation and Analysis Team projects and reporting requests including developing of standard reporting framework and key performance indicators
    • Participates and supports other team members to complete corporate projects/assignments
  • Supports development of financial models required for the interim and annual impairment testing process
  • Supports external and internal auditors in the performance of year-end and interim financial audits/reviews
  • Supports completion of quarterly and year-end financial disclosures



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience, preference given to candidates with experience in the manufacturing industry, publicly traded company environment, and/or strong inventory accounting background
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and systems
  • Exposure to US GAAP and IFRS, preferred
  • ERP experience, business analytics / reporting preferred. Proficient with Oracle; Hyperion cloud-based solutions, preferred
  • Motivated self-starter who can effectively work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical, financial and systems skills, required. Must be detail oriented, analytical, problem solver and creative thinker
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
