At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ’s Regina based Canadian Accounting Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Financial Accountant.  This role requires an experienced professional with strong critical thinking and problem solving skills to support our Canadian facilities.  This position will perform month-end close activities and provide financial information and analysis within a fast paced environment with strict deadlines.  This position reports to the Manager Financial Reporting.

  • Responsible for monthly accounting close processes, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assisting in the consolidation of the Canadian entities
  • Preparing variance explanations of financial results
  • Cooperatively work with the accounting team and other teams within the organization, including Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other Business Managers
  • Utilize problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills to understand the business and accounting process at the company
  • Assist external and internal auditors in the performance of year-end and interim financial audits/reviews
  • Assist with completion of quarterly and year-end financial disclosures
  • Assist with ad hoc reports and projects, as requested



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Degree in Accounting, CPA is preferred
  • 3 years of experience in a relevant accounting position, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be an advanced user of Excel
  • Experience with the Oracle financial system a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Cooperative and effective team member, Ability to interact with all levels of EVRAZ employees
  • Highly adaptable with a willingness to learn and actively participate
