Job Description and Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our growing team in Pueblo, Colorado. Rated as one of the best places to live, Pueblo is located at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek - just south of Colorado Springs.

The Senior Environmental Engineer assists with developing and gathering data which documents compliance with environmental operating permit parameters, including environmental and operational programs that directly affect the business processes at EVRAZ. This position is responsible for identifying opportunities for environmental program development, regulatory agency cooperation, and cost cutting initiatives that can strengthen the economic opportunities. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze regulatory agency issued environmental operating permits and develop programs to ensure operating department environmental practices comply with permitted legal and regulatory requirements  
  • Develop project scope, evaluate received project bids, select project contractors, and manage on-site contract personnel during environmental projects
  • Ensure reliable operation of pollution control continuous emission monitors (CEMS & COMS) through on-going maintenance, calibration, testing and data logging
  • Develop environmental compliance trends by developing data acquisition systems and analyzing collected environmental data
  • Assist operating department managers to interpret environmental data trends which influence an operating area’s production parameters
  • Participate in meetings and negotiations with both State and Federal regulatory agencies concerning past and continued operation
  • Prepare required detailed technical reports for submission to State and Federal regulatory agencies  
  • Closely interact with production, maintenance, and administrative personnel to clearly communicate complex environmental issues
  • Supervise hourly environmental department employee
  • Manage all aspects of the PSD, Title V Clean Air Act, NPDES, and Hazardous Waste Management programs
  • Knowledgeable in the EAF steel production method and the manufacturing technology
  • Write technical reports summarizing key findings and identifying next steps and technical project specifications
  • Experience working with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish tasks
  • Able to work effectively with both hourly and management personnel

 



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent
  • 7 to 10 years experience in an environmental role
  • Strong Environmental Regulatory background in all Environmental Media
  • Experience representing company during meetings with Regulatory Agencies
  • Project management experience
  • Proven teamwork, leadership, communication (oral and written), administrative and organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Stack testing and remediation experience, preferred
  • Water discharge program management experience, preferred
