City: Red Deer / State: Alberta

Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ NA is seeking a Safety Manager at our Red Deer facility. This role will be responsible for day to day activities of the Safety program. The successful candidate will work to promote the overall safety and well-being of our employee group. This position reports to the Director, Alberta Safety.

 

  • Audit and report on department safety programs to ensure employee safety and compliance with OH&S legislation/regulations and EVRAZ Safety programs
  • Conduct Workplace Safety Inspections
  • Review written safety programs for effectiveness and compliance
  • Administer department safety program
  • Conduct safety training
  • Coordinate and provide general support to safety committee activities
  • Provide technical safety support to all department personnel
  • Provide comprehensive safety support in such areas as record keeping and tracking, prepare safety reports, perform incident & accident investigations, assist or carry out safety audits and filed inspections in compliance with OH&S
  • WCB claims management experience will be considered an asset
  • Work with the Safety team, site inspectors and site supervision
  • Help promote a culture where health and safety is a core value
  • Assist all departments with health and safety issues as requested
  • Other duties related to the day to day operations of the department

  • Completion of post-secondary education in safety related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety related field; education combined with experience will also be considered
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and regulations
  • Experience performing/writing COR internal audits using Enform
  • Experience in an industrial or construction business environment working "hands on" with union employees and other stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service and a team player skill
  • Proven administrative experience including strong proficiency with Word and Excel
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to organize and motivate teams for safe, high-quality results and maximum productivity
