Roller Shift Lead

City: Regina / State: Saskatchewan                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

We currently have an opening at our Regina facility for a dynamic individual with a proven track record to fill a Shift Leader position. This position in our manufacturing process is responsible for operating and monitoring the equipment that takes steel slabs and forms it into rough product. The Shift Leader will also be responsible for coordinating manpower, performing safety talks, and other supervisory duties as assigned.

  • Operation and control of 80” Hot Strip Rolling Mill and monitoring systems
  • Conducting quality tests and inspections of steel coils and plate
  • Operational troubleshooting
  • Accountable to make improvements or corrections in line with the performance measures relative to the goals of the Rolling Mill
  • Coordinate and lead the Rolling Mill workforce to ensure safe work practices and product quality standards are met
  • Understand how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
  • Routine and preventative maintenance on equipment



 



Job Requirements

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience in operating equipment; mechanically inclined an asset
  • Logical and methodical thinker with the ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Trustworthy and transparent communication skills
  • Ability to provide information, training, and make decisions to assist employees with daily activities
