Job Description and Responsibilities

 

We have an exciting opening at our Calgary facility for an experienced Quality Control Supervisor.  In this role, the Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for specific quality assurance activities related to coatings and corrosion at their assigned location such as supervision of the product test lab and production (if applicable), quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) responsibilities for a specific mill or coating facility, relating to product acceptance, as well as analysis of product quality data and corresponding leadership role in the improvement cycle.

  • Perform periodic audits to ensure conformance with documented work procedures
  • As required, participate in TPG internal and external audit functions (supplier quality)
  • Monitor downgrade trends specific to the manufacturing lines and communicate issues to QA and Operations. Develop improvement opportunities
  • Provide dispositions for product on quality hold
  • Provide technical assistance for shop floor quality issues relating to bare pipe manufacturing or coating application
  • Develop best practices involving testing methods for safety, efficiency, and accuracy
  • Participate in product and process trials with pipe making, pipe coating, and research personnel
  • Investigate, analyze results for product associated with product claims
  • Technical report writing with a strong ability to summarize key findings and identify next steps
  • Provide leadership in developing and maintaining safe work operating and inspection practices
  • Establish, implement and track participation in an annual training program to ensure Operations and Quality personnel maintain critical knowledge regarding the inspection methods, specification requirements and lab certification and testing of our products
  • Liaise with QA Management to manage incoming inspection issues and field investigation issues
  • Develop training literature for quality inspectors



 



Job Requirements

 

  • 5-8 years technical experience and a recognized degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-5 years of experience leading teams in a product or process development role within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of metals-based manufacturing processes, including chemical and mechanical testing procedures
  • Must understand ISO quality standards and Quality Management Systems (QMS) including quality control planning for new products
  • Budget coordination at the department level (an asset)
  • Proficient in MS Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively present project results to management team
  • Technical report writing with a strong ability to summarize key findings and identify next stepsmich
