Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our Calgary team. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for organizing, directing, and controlling procurement of goods and services throughout the Canadian operations.  This includes meeting the corporate objectives, as they apply but not limited to Procurement Policies & Procedures, Strategic Purchasing Initiatives (SPI), plant productivity, and achievement of cost reduction targets. Execute the corporate purchasing strategy as it relates to strategic purchasing initiatives and capital production plans. Support and promote continuous improvement in the growth of the Procurement Department.

 Negotiate Contracts for Major Commodities and Services

  • Responsible to develop and review of contracts for materials and services
  • Responsible for the development and issuance of all annual agreements
  • Interface with other purchasing departments and legal on agreements as necessary

 Strategic Purchasing Initiatives (SPI)

  • Provide spend and usage data to assist in corporate projects
  • Responsible to assist other purchasing departments as required
  • Identify areas of opportunity for SPI projects
  • Coordinate and implement SPI projects throughout Canadian operations

Capital Purchasing

  • Purchase, or monitor the purchasing of capital items/services Canadian operations
  • Responsible to assist Engineering with timely purchasing assistance
  • Assist in the gathering of budget information for the purpose of RFE Development
  • Manage all documentation for Capital/Construction Projects
  • Managed and maintain all insurance requirements
  • Manage all milestones for payment of Capital/Construction projects

 Continuous Improvement of the Procurement Department

  • Identify areas of continuous improvement through the purchasing groups
  • Identify consistency of purchasing practices throughout Canadian operations
  • Work with the various other purchasing departments on identifying opportunities in standardization of procurement policies & procedures
  • Assist in training purchasing and operation staff on purchasing procedures
  • Work with Management and Legal departments to develop standard templates

 Policies and Procedures

  • Manage all documentation for site access requirements
  • Ensure compliance of all procurement policies and procedures
  • Assist in the maintenance of information within common data repositories



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Business Degree or Certificate
  • Professional Purchasing Designation
  • P.P., C.P.M., APICS certification or equivalent
  • Possess or willing to work towards obtaining their Diploma in Purchasing and C.P.P. designation from PMAC.
  • 3-5 years hands on purchasing/materials management experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of Tubular processes and products
