City: Edmonton / State: Alberta                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ is seeking a Production Planning Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

This role collaborates with sales, operations, shipping, technical services and finance to complete the production planning and scheduling of OCTG & small diameter line pipe mills from steel ordering to pipe delivery.

The Manager is responsible for demand and supply scenario planning including material requirement management to ensure customer requirements are met. This position provides supply options and trade-offs based on different priorities. The planner will align demand with production planning throughout the fulfillment cycle, working closely with internal departments to gather and prioritize product and customer requirements.

  • Develop sales and operations plans for future months for OCTG pipe and small diameter line pipe produced at our facilities in Alberta
  • Schedule and monitor production of customer orders through various mill processes
  • Order raw materials and closely coordinate delivery of steel and other production material to mills according to supply plans
  • Adjust day to day production schedule based on changes in customer requirements, production limitations and raw material availability
  • Provide regular updates about production and mill availability to the management team
  • Manage and generate inventory (raw material, work in progress and finished goods) and delivery performance reports as well as other key performance indicators
  • Facilitate issue resolutions with sales, production, transportation and other departments
  • Attend and actively participate in planning meetings, understand drivers, challenge assumptions and lead the team to agreement on demand and supply plans
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned by supervisor or defined by company objectives



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations management, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or finance
  • 5+ years related experience in a production/scheduling/planning role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in tubular products and/or mill operations
  • Knowledge of tubular industry standards including API 5CT / 5B / 5L, CSA, and ASTM a plus
  • The ideal candidate will be a process oriented, persuasive and capable of maintaining accuracy and functionality in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient in managing and analyzing various levels of supply chain processes (e.g., capacity planning, raw material planning, inventory planning, logistics and transportation)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability dealing with opposing opinions, effectiveness reaching a compromise
  • High computer proficiency and experience analyzing complex data sets in spreadsheets, experience generating clear, concise written documents in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products
