Job Description and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

It is the responsibility of the Process Automation Engineer to increase the production and shipping of quality product, by improving equipment availability and utilization, and finding innovative solutions to manufacturing problems. Incumbents will work closely with production, quality and maintenance departments to identify and resolve potential areas of improvement and then work towards implementing solutions and to ensure that the equipment and process is effectively producing prime quality plate.



Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or proven equivalent experience
  • Experience in the manufacturing field
  • Control logic programming languages and tools
  • Heavy industrial process automation experience
  • Database interaction experience
  • Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical and hydraulic schematics
  • Experience with logical circuitry and troubleshooting logical circuits
  • Experience in control theory (Feed Back, Feed Forward and sequencing concepts and application)
  • Able to work in steel mill environment
  • Able to support the 24 hour mill operation trough variable shifts and/or on-call
  • Able to learn, retain and apply new knowledge
  • Able to follow standards in automation and control software discipline
  • Able to use technical manuals
  • Good documentation, written and oral communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy, Process, or Mechanical.
  • Experience with Siemens
  • Spiral welded pipe making and processing
  • Hydraulic theory and hydraulic system control
  • Programming skills advantageous. (C#, VB, .NET and C preferred)
  • Database Interaction experience with MSSQL and VB Scripting
  • Knowledge of adaptable process modeling
  • Knowledge of finite element methods and computational mathematics
  • Operating systems (OpenVMS, Unix, PSOS, QNX, Windows NT)
  • Supporting Servers, PCs and networks
