Job Description and Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our team at our Pueblo, CO location. 

As an Electrical Technician, you will provide all necessary electrical, electronic and combustion-instrumentation maintenance to all areas of the Mill in a safe and efficient manner. Your specific duties will include:

  • Serving the function(s) of a Combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and/or Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) depending upon training and certification 
  • Completing the RMSM training program to become skilled in all three of the crafts mentioned above 
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, dismantling, assembling and installing a variety of equipment throughout the mill 
  • Working with Electric Shop, Combustion Lab and Electronic Shop equipment and tools, mobile equipment of every kind, controls, switches, valves, ovens, furnaces, machinery, cranes, prints and drawings 
  • Keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly 
  • Performing routine maintenance and assisting Maintenance personnel 
  • Operating overhead cranes as needed



Job Requirements

As an Electrical Technician, you must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage your time when given multiple tasks. It is also important that you have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with your colleagues. Specific qualifications for the Electrical Technician position include:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have completed or have the equivalence of a craft apprenticeship in one of the following three crafts: Combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) 
  • Valid Colorado's license and mobile equipment qualification 
  • Strong troubleshooting, repair and installation skills 
  • Prior training in the operation of overhead cranes 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds 
  • Physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, etc. 
  • Willingness to work in both inside and outside environmental conditions with exposure to elevated noise levels, vibrations and extreme cold or heat

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining; or experience working with machinery, equipment operation or a closely related field.
  • HS Diploma or GED and a demonstrated pattern of stable work history
  • 12 Months experience in Machine Operation and General Labor. 
  • Work Conditions: Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Exposed to elevated noise levels and vibrations, and extreme cold and heat. Physical Hazards – Close proximity to moving parts and electrical currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to natural gas, high heat, hot surfaces, molten metal, chemicals, oils and lubricants. Atmospheric conditions may require use of a respirator or dust mask.
  • Essential Physical Activities: Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, carry, finger, Grasp, feel, talk to communicate, speak over public address system, hear, and make repetitive motions. Needs to see to read prints, inspect and repair. Frequently exerts forces up to 75 pounds to lift, carry, push and pull.
