Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our growing team located in Pueblo, Colorado.  As a Quality Assurance Technician you will verify product conformance to EVRAZ standard requirements and customer specifications using non-destructive testing methods, gauges and visual inspection. You will investigate routine metallurgical problems, determine compliance with specifications and evaluate products utilizing microscope, hardness and tensile machines. You will prepare samples using lathes grinders, cut-off machines, power saws, drill presses, milling and turning machines, polishing equipment and measuring tools. You will work with various measuring devices, hand tools, materials, supplies, equipment, and necessary safety equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high regard for safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all appropriate Standard Operating Procedures 
  • Utilize necessary safety equipment 
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly 
  • Perform routine maintenance and assist Maintenance personnel
  • Observe all safety rules and lock out procedures
  • Perform duties as needed in keeping mill operational
  • Prepare necessary reports, records and counts for traceability and inventory purposes
  • Perform routine maintenance and assists Maintenance personnel
  • Reject, determine disposition, sort and identify product with inspector number
  • Measure and visually inspect products to verify acceptability and conformance to specifications, CF&I standard requirements, and customer specifications
  • Utilitize gauges, torches, grinders and additional test equipment

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Perform duties as needed in keeping mill operational
  • Operates all equipment needed to complete the job 
  • Observes all safety rules and lockout procedures
  • Must be willing to work varied shifts (3 shift rotation) and any days of the week
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Experience in Quality Control and Quality AssuranceDemonstrate mathematic aptitude
  • Experience working with MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Qualified Level I non-destructive testing background or equivalent
    4 year Technical Degree
  • Knowledge of gauges, micrometers, NDT flaw detectors and machine shop equipment
  • Quality control experience in a manufacturing and metallurgical background
  • Knowledge of ISO standards

Essential Physical Activities:
Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, carry, finger, grasp, feel, talk to communicate, speak over public address system, hear, and make repetitive motions. Ust have 20/20 vision with correction if necessary and be able to discriminate colors. Required constantly to exert forces over 50 pounds to lift, carry, push and pull.

Work Conditions:
Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Exposed to elevated noise levels. Physical Hazards-Close proximity to moving parts and product, exposure to high heat and hot surfaces, exposure to some adverse atmospheric conditions.
