Job Description and Responsibilities

The Manager of Strategy role within EVRAZ NA will be responsible for assisting the development and execution of market, commercial and operational strategies for the company’s Long Products Group. This person will assist strategy development, M&A activities, and business case development and approval for major capital and maintenance investments. This person will also perform research and analysis to support a broad range of topics including; market drivers and trends, historical and projected market size, pricing, customers, channels, product mix, competitive dynamics, M&A opportunities, and other topics. This person will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Product Development, and Financial Planning and Analysis groups and will report directly to the Vice President of Strategy Long Products.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the development of business cases for new capital investments and mergers and acquisitions by evaluating their impact on market, competitive dynamics and company’s financials
  • Develops models to forecast demand and analyze internal and competitive cost position under various market scenarios
  • Creates market volume and pricing analyses and identifies key patterns in demand drivers and supply dynamics
  • Conducts extensive research about markets, customers, competitors, products and projects to develop and maintain database for analysis and to synthesize and extract meaningful insights
  • Evaluates market, customer, product and technology trends to support R&D, product development and sales and marketing activities



Job Requirements

 Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or economics and MBA required
  • 2-3 years of experience in management consulting at a top tier firm strongly preferred or
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales, operations, supply chain, engineering or R&D with an industrial, basic materials or an energy company
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort presenting to and working closely with executives
  • Solid business acumen
  • Self-motivation and comfort working independently; and competence teaming well with others.
  • Must be proficient with MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time (international travel a possibility)
