Job Description and Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of a Maintenance Supervisor to build a positive work environment for their crew and ensure their direct reports are working collaboratively toward a common goal. A maintenance supervisor will be responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of their assigned crew to include implementing preventative maintenance programs, planning and following through on repairs, training the workforce on safe practices and developing the skills of assigned crew members. Incumbents will also be responsible for creating work schedules for their direct reports, maintaining Kronos pay system by editing, reviewing and approving employee time cards. Maintenance supervisors are also responsible for assisting in procuring, organizing and inventorying parts and materials needed for repairs and tracking work completed using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This is a moderately supervised position.



Job Requirements

  • Ability to learn, lead and direct a crew of maintenance employees with demonstrated leadership and communication skills
  • Must have the mechanical/electrical knowledge to supervise millwrights and electricians, who are installing, troubleshooting and repairing machinery, high voltage systems, motors, and programmable logic controls (PLC’s).
  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electronic field, BS in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering is preferred.
  • 4 years’ experience as an electrical or mechanical maintenance supervisor, steel industry is preferred.
  • 5 years of journeyman level millwright or electrician experience in heavy manufacturing preferred.
  • Must be proficient in blue print reading and trouble shooting of electrical/electronic and hydraulic operations of equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize work from numerous sources and balance the output to match the customers’ needs
  • Technical experience with hydraulics, high voltage systems, motor control, process automation, instrumentation and combustion and programmable logic controls (PLC’s). You will be required to demonstrate your skills in this area.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, odors, dust and noise.

 

Preferred:

  • SAP or Oracle experience
  • 8 years minimum in the steel industry
  • Specific training to set up tracking programs with documents, tasks and procedures using a CMMS
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultra sound, laser alignment, etc.)
