Lab Tech Lead

City: Portland / State: Oregon

Job Description and Responsibilities

Preparation of tensile, bend test, Charpy V-notch, jominys DWTT, micro, all types of Hardness testing and other tests as directed Grading/release of plates. Log in samples. Testing of tensile, bend, Charpy V-notch, jominys, All API and other tests as directed.  Maintenance of machinery. Must hold daily safety toolbox and weekly crew meetings. Ability to effectively lead a team of people.



Job Requirements

  • Machining and/or mechanical experience and computer ability preferred
  • Previous tensile testing experience preferred
  • Ability to work with others a must
  • Supervise and assign work to meet our customer demands.
  • Train crews in all duties of a Lab Tech, 1 and 2, including safety, operations and 6-S
  • In charge of 6-S check off sheet
  • Perform daily Safety observation
  • Valid driver license required
  • Self starter, ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals
  • Ability to think ahead and plan work in fast-paced setting
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
  • Good math skills:  addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Knowledge of ASTM,API,MIL,ABS, Lloyds, and Societal specifications  testing requirements preferred
