Industrial Engineering Analyst

City: Calgary / State: Alberta                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ is seeking an Industrial Analyst for our Calgary facility. This new role will analyze production methods and data by studying key inputs and outputs at all stages of EVRAZ’s production model. The successful candidate will be a strong partner to our operations teams and drive strategies that leverage materials and resources to generate the highest productivity and efficiency at the lowest cost of production. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

  • Review of material flows, determine potential improvements to reduce pipe handling
  • Determination of optimal plant load balance through analysis of optimal crew levels per line on tons of production
  • Analysis of headcount per line and determines operators availability based on work load
  • Review of cycle times; determine cycle activities subject to improvement and conducts bench marks with similar lines to determine actions to improve cycle times
  • Study of change overs: utilize SMED type methodology to improve change over times
  • Examine material yield losses, determines technological losses vs. scrap losses and completes analysis of potential technological and control improvements to reduce yield losses
  • Conversion cost analysis: break cost down between “price” and “consumption” and help determining actions to reduce “consumption” or alternatives to overall improve cost per ton
  • Determine production capacity of lines (existing and future)
  • Support basic engineering designs of new lines or modifications to existing lines to have optimal performance
  • Assist engineering team to calculate investment benefits (IRR, NPV, etc.)
  • Utilize lean tools to support continuous improvement of plant performance



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer, Engineering Technologist
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Lean tools training
  • Excellent skills in MS Office Excel and Word
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of simulation software (i.e. Arena or ProModel) is recommended
