Heat Treat Material Handler

Job Description and Responsibilities

We are currently accepting applications in Portland, Oregon for a Heat Treat Material Handler position.

The successful candidate must be able to work safely in a heavy manufacturing environment. The ability to work independently and in a team is a must. Attention to detail, as wells as good written and oral communication skills are required.



Job Responsibilities:

• Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate, load and unload plate on conveyor system, and load and unload plate on trucks and rail cars.
• Use burning equipment and hand grinder to cut and prepare plate samples for testing.
• Tag and mark plate.
• Enter data into computers.
• Operate forklift.
• Additional responsibilities included as directed by the first-line supervisor.



Job Requirements

• Ability to work in environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise
• Ability to accurately enter data into computers without transposing figures
• Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals
• Ability to think ahead and plan work in fast-paced setting
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
• Good math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
• Ability to quickly coordinate hand motions with overhead crane operation
• Comfortable working in high places
• Successful completion of ergonomic test

Preferred:

• Operating a remote-controlled crane in a fast-paced environment
• 2 - 5 years industrial experience
• Experience in a position requiring planning out work
