Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a General Supervisor to join our growing production team in Portland, Oregon.  As a General Supervisor working in the finishing line, you will effectively lead your team of supervisors, production, and NDT (nondestructive testing) employees to deliver a high quality API (American Petroleum Institute) product to EVRAZ customers.  You will assist supervisors in developing safety programs and keep them on pace to meet processing schedules and goals.  Keep Supervisors informed on all topics pertaining, to KPI’s (key performance indicators) and MBO’s (management by objective) and business related topics. 

 

  • Ensuring that the pipe meets the American Petroleum Institute (API) and Customer testing guidelines and standards.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the visual, ultrasonic, and hydrostatic testing of pipe.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the repairing, processing, grinding, and beveling of pipe.
  • Ensuring API and Customer guidelines and standards are met.
  • Ensuring the teams puts safety first, creating a proactive culture with regards to eliminating potential hazards.
  • Effectively leading and motivating a team of production and NDT employees which include four direct reports and each crew has about 30 people under them.
  • Deliver a high quality API product to our customers.
  • Produces KPI and tracking of expenditures, finishing work on the lines, etc.



Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration or engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Five plus years in heavy industrial environment, plus three years in supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in utilizing lean manufacturing tools and concepts in order to continuously reduce waste.
  • Solid understanding of flow, cycle times, bottlenecks and quick changeovers.
  • Must be able to problem solve and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Must be able to identify the root cause of problems and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Background in Production or Quality Management is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of API and pipe steel making, strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise.
