City: Camrose / State: Alberta                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

We are looking for an experienced professional with strong critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills to support our Canadian Facilities. The position is located in Camrose.  This position will be a key member of our EVRAZ Canada Finance Group by performing full cycle of routine Accounting and FP&A (financial planning and analysis) activities (month-end close, forecast and budgeting, analysis, ad hoc requests, etc.) within a fast paced environment with strict deadlines. Providing direction and overseeing the accounting team in achieving the department goals and timelines is also key. This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager – Alberta Assets.

  • Accounting and FP&A site lead for Camrose Tubular mill and Edmonton Couplings Machining facility (ECM)
  • Responsible for monthly accounting close processes and meeting strict corporate deadlines
  • Responsible for monthly planning & forecasts activities
  • Assist with preparation of Divisional budgets
  • Reviewing monthly financial costing and statement results for accuracy and reasonability
  • Overseeing the accounting processes and transactions for Camrose and Edmonton facilities
  • Performing investigation and problem solving of financial transactions
  • Review and approval of reconciliations and journal entries
  • Ensure that adequate internal controls exist and are maintained
  • Oversee external and internal auditors in the performance of year-end and interim financial audits/reviews
  • Responsible for completion of quarterly and yearend financial disclosures
  • Participate and support other team members to complete corporate projects/assignments
  • Provide finance and accounting support to operational management, both for actual data and forecast scenarios. Support operational and commercial decisions by investigating cost / margin issues and providing in-depth analysis
  • Support investment projects for Camrose and Edmonton facilities (options valuation, cash flow modelling, financial slides preparation as part of the project presentation, support of investment project manager over the execution phase)
  • Support Canada CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) / PMO (Project Management Office) activities & reporting
  • Support Canada Consolidation & Analysis team projects and reporting requests (including developing of standard reporting framework, KPIs (key performance indicators), etc.)
  • Support Alberta Assets Senior Finance Manager on different functional and capex projects, ad hoc requests, special business related studies and financial analysis as required
  • Previous supervisory experience required since the role will have two staff reporting to them

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or Accounting
  • Professional accounting designation (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CFA, other similar) is preferred
  • Three to five years’ of related experience, preference given to candidates with experience in the manufacturing industry and/or strong inventory accounting background 
  • Strong experience with Oracle; experience with Hyperion applications (especially cloud solutions is preferred)
  • Exposure to IFRS (International financial reporting standards) reporting would be beneficial
  • Good experience with modelling / valuation would be beneficial
  • Must have time management and organization skills and ability to work quickly with tight deadlines
  • Pro-active mindset and good leadership and communication skills, team oriented, collaborative working style
  • Initiative, results driven
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite
