We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ North America is seeking an Environmental Information & Training Specialist to join our team in Regina. This individual will responsible for managing the company’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS), providing environmental training, and assisting in both environmental inspections and data acquisition.

  • Environmental training of employees and contractors
  • Management of SDS information, including:
    • the SDS data-base
    • product approvals
    • cross searches for NPRI, and
    • WHMIS compliance / GHS conformance
  • Assistance with environmental inspections at the Regina site
  • Assistance with raw data acquisition for hauling of liquids, spills, land-farm use, and monthly KPIs
  • Assistance with maintaining environmental records, files, and ‘bring forward’ system
  • Assistance with environmental management systems auditing
  • Persistent pursuit of information is a necessary part of the work
  • Plan and organize functions/meetings
  • Assist in implementation of environmental, health and safety systems
  • Assist in the maintenance of employee environmental, health and safety communications and training programs
  • Other environmental tasks as assigned



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Post-secondary education – either Baccalaureate University or a technical institute certificate, preferably including chemistry sciences
  • 2-3 years of related experience in environmental, health and safety
  • Ability to work well in a team and be a strong team player
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and logical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) to create professional data summaries and reports
  • Good ability in writing and composition
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Good interpersonal and teaching skills are required
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation is desirable
  • Able to learn environmental management systems auditing

Working Conditions:  Employment is at the main office at Regina with significant amounts of computer use. Training will be done mostly in the Regina facilities, with occasional travel to other Canadian EVRAZ sites.
