Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated Direct Materials Sourcing Manager to join our North America Products and Resource Management team. In this role you will lead the strategic sourcing initiatives for all business units and locations in North America. You will be responsible for developing and providing expert level global category knowledge, including supplier capacities, cost structure and technical capabilities.   This role reports to the Senior Director of PRM for North America.

  • Proactively work with the Product and Resource Management teams at the various facilities, Planners and Schedulers, Direct Material Buyers, Sales, Operations, Technical Services and Quality to support business needs and ensure continuity of supply
  • Oversight of the procurement of ferrous scrap and scrap substitutes
  • Represent the PRM team in the Recycling group and manage corporate efforts in support of the EVRAZ Regina and Pueblo steelmaking facility
  • Manage the execution of the monthly scrap buying plan through consultation with the managers at the mill, monitoring results and adjusting plans as needed
  • Develop, own and manage key supplier and functional stakeholder relationships
  • Monitor Supplier supply chain, adherence to required dates and expedite incoming shipments if required
  • Engage all stakeholders as needed to understand business needs and provide category insights
  • Analyze supplier cost structures, commodity pricing, and technical / productivity performance to identify supply opportunities and deliver cost improvements
  • Create process/system for tracking dependent demand that allows for increased visibility and decreases risk
  • Identify and qualify new sources of supply
  • Solicit the supply market and negotiate agreements with key suppliers
  • Develop supplier scorecards and manage performance evaluations and KPIs
  • Work as part of the Sales and Operations Planning team supporting RM steel  balances and inventory targets



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in direct materials procurement in a manufacturing environment with multiple business / location exposure.
  • Steel knowledge to include scrap procurement a plus
  • Must be comfortable with traveling
  • Experience in a leadership / influencing role
  • Skilled negotiator with proven experience
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Proven results driving direct sourcing savings globally
  • Ability to complete work in an organized and well documented manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
