City: Regina / State: Saskatchewan                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

Are you a recognized subject matter expert in Lean Business Systems?  Wondering where you can apply your outgoing, energetic, passionate and positive attitude about change? EVRAZ North America wants you to teach and coach plant leaders and lean team members at our Regina facilities to develop, own, and implement the EVRAZ Business Systems (EBS) through a designed lean transformation model. This position will be located in Regina, Saskatchewan and reports to the Vice President Operations, Regina.

 

  • Be an active change agent within the site by cultivating a Lean thinking mindset
  • Manage the development, delivery, and continuous process improvement of (EBS) and tools at various departments
  • Coach plant leadership through the lean transformation by the deployment of EBS
  • Mentor top leaders in establishing top business challenges and key initiatives across the site
  • Coach department leaders through the development of a model line using value stream analysis, cascaded down to floor based kata improvement initiatives, in order to meet business challenges
  • Develop lean depth capability by training and coaching department leaders in EBS methods and scientific thinking
  • Achieve sustainment of gains through coaching leaders to own and deploy daily management systems, including leadership standard work
  • Develop depth of capability of lean team members across the site in order to become future coaches and leaders of the organization
  • Ensure operations move toward a problem solving and daily execution culture
  • Collaborate across all departments and ensure regular interaction with all levels of management
  • Presents, educates, and facilitates to all levels in the organization as well as to external audiences
  • Ensure all leaders support a daily management, coaching and problem solving culture



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in an engineering/lean manufacturing/operational excellence role in a heavy industrial manufacturing organization
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a team and overseeing work
  • Track record of achieving business results through the implementation of lean business systems
  • Extensive experience leading lean transformations from concept through implementation, evaluation and sustainment (PDCA/SDCA cycles)
  • Knowledge of value stream mapping, kaizen, standard work, leader standard work, daily management, and other lean methods
  • Expertise in building high performing teams with a focus on developing capability and mentoring lean teams in a manufacturing setting
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with multiple levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to deliver results as a change agent: strong influencing skills, high degree of credibility
  • Strategic and clear thinker, able to analyze complex problems and propose and implement creative solutions
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Must be able to motivate teams, sell ideas and influence colleagues at all levels of the organization
