Job Description and Responsibilities

The Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the administration of various employee health and welfare benefit programs including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Flexible Spending, Life Insurance, Wellness, FMLA and Short and Long-Term Disability.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the first point of contact for HR, the carriers, and researches employee benefits questions
  • Arranges for payment of premiums and invoices from vendors and provides Finance with necessary details. Also reconciles billing discrepancies with the vendors and Finance team
  • Manages benefits data within the HRIS system. This includes data entry of benefit changes (e.g., new hire elections, qualifying event changes, and dependent updates) and the resolution of discrepancies arising from carrier file feeds
  • Conducts new hire benefits orientation
  • Supports implementation efforts such as reviewing data accuracy, conversion of data, and testing of new HRIS system
  • Supports the annual open enrollment process
  • Updates documents as needed (COBRA rates, election forms, etc.)
  • Supports the team on various projects as well as with the implementation of new projects and processes



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in employee benefits is required
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel proficiency to include using pivot tables, v-look ups and the mail merge feature in Word)
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, and HIPAA regulations
  • Must be detailed and customer service oriented
