Job Description and Responsibilities

 

We are seeking an Assistant Manager for our Wheat City Metals facility in Regina. The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager to coordinate all aspects of site operations including but not limited to; sales, production, purchasing, customer service and managing a team. The Assistant Manager will also ensure that the site remains safe and environmentally compliant, while effectively and efficiently working within the guidelines of the administrative policies and procedures of the company.

  • Manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of exempt and non-exempt professionals (Managers/Supervisors) and non-exempt hourly employee
  • Partners with the Environmental, Health and Safety Team to ensure that the site is adhering to all safety and environmental policies and procedures. Promotes a clean, safe, and environmentally compliant site for employees and customer
  • Manages, trains, and develops all employees
  • Responsible for staffing scheduling and managing the day-to-date operations of the site
  • Drive site performance by optimizing sales, production, and product purchasing
  • Manage financials by understanding and taking corrective actions in response to monthly financial statements and operating key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Establish community relationships to promote and enhance the site brand
  • Follows company policy and procedures and leads by example for the rest of the employees
  • Ensure policies and procedures are communicated and implemented at the site level
  • Prepares operating reports for the management and operations team
  • Ensure that all sales transactions and cash management procedures are in compliance with company policy
  • Responsible for the overall safeguarding of company assets
  • Partner with all internal corporate support resources to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations to achieve results



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum of a 3 years’ management or leadership experience in industrial manufacturing, automotive or distribution
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Solid quantitative skills to understand site financial performance and operating statistics (KPIs)
  • Must have the ability to reconcile sales, prepare reports and read technical manuals
  • Able to handle multiple priorities while performing quality work in an efficient manner with minimal supervision
  • Able to work required hours which includes weekends and holidays and also at any site assigned within reasonable distance from home site
  • Loader and heavy equipment operator license preferred but not required
