Area Supervisor (temporary)

City: Calgary / State: Alberta                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ North America has an opportunity for an Area Supervisor to work in our Calgary Facility on a temporary basis.

The Area Supervisor (temporary) schedules, directs, coordinates, trains and leads their crew to achieve or exceed planned safety, production, quality, and recovery targets while minimizing costs and labour relations issues.

Job Responsibilities

• Due diligence – make every reasonable effort to ensure the safety the employees.
• Ensure that all procedures are followed.
• Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
• Ensure all team members are trained for their position.
• Monthly safety meetings.
• Support all company and regulatory requirements.
• Provide or arrange training for employees to meet the standards of the job they are performing.
• Consistently meet daily planned production and quality targets.
• Effectively report mechanical/electrical concerns immediately.
• Contribute to failure analysis.
• Engage employees in continuous improvement to identify and eliminate waste.



 



Job Requirements

 

• Be mechanically inclined.
• Possess strong communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
• Have computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word would be considered and asset.
• Have good understanding of drawings and Engineering principles

Preference to candidates with:

• At least 3-5 years of experience in a large manufacturing company.
• Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
• Experience in pipe manufacturing.
• Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
