AP/AR Clerk

City: Regina / State: Saskatchewan                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ NA is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their team. The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for preparing, initiating and monitoring of payments, and expenditures for the Headquarters staff. Works with Treasury Staff to ensure timely disbursements of checks. Position reports to the Manager of Transactional Services.

  • Receives, matches and verifies invoices; obtains approvals for payment when necessary
  • Verifies accounting codes 
  • Prepares documents for payment; batches of invoices for data entry
  • Enters invoices and check or wire requests into Oracle financial system 
  • Maintains and prepares listings and reports on Accounts Payable activity
  • Prepares approved checks for mailing and distribution 
  • Other duties as assigned



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum 2 years' AP experience required; or combination of education and experience (Accounting course of study considered).
  • Minimum 2 completed accounting classes required.
  • Understanding of accounts payable, general ledgers, debits & credits and general accounting practices required
  • Very strong, numeric keystrokes with precision for data entry required
  • Oracle experience helpful; or similar financial/accounting software
  • Microsoft office skills helpful; experience working with Excel a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – maintains a respectful and pleasant demeanor in all situations
  • Attention to detail, high level of accuracy with ability to recognize errors independently
  • Ability to differentiate on issues – understands when to act autonomously and when to refer for approval or problem solving
  • Organized and methodical in approach to work
