Job Description and Responsibilities

Oversee Industrial Process and Storm Water Treatment Facility Operators will perform work activities associated with a conventional filtration water treatment plant to include work activities associated with plant operations and involve water treatment theory and practice, plant equipment operation, maintenance and repair. Incumbents are responsible for performing all duties in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies in a safe and conscientious manner.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Remain current on water treatment theory/technology and apply applicable knowledge to the water treatment process/production
  • Operate the water treatment plant to include monitoring gauges, flowmeters, charts, system control computer etc. Conduct water analysis tests, determine chemical feed rates and adjust chemical dosages with approval of Class IV WTPO, determine and maintain proper flow rates, maintain treatment records, and backwash filters as needed
  • Collect representative water samples to monitor and conduct water analysis to test for contaminants and properties, and analyze residuals for disinfection and nitrification control
  • Collect water samples to be used by both internal lab and external agencies for analysis for regulation compliance
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment to include operating adjustments and calibrations, basic mechanical work and cleaning, lubricating, and minor parts replacement
  • Perform building and grounds maintenance as needed
  • Remain familiar and current with all rules, regulations and policies of Evraz, OSHA, DEQ, and EPA
  • Order chemicals, repair parts and tools
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend sound solutions to problems of a routine nature
  • Perform other related duties as assigned



Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain the following Certifications:
    • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
    • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
    • Hazard Identification (HAZID)
    • Visual Emission Training – Opacity/Smoke Monitoring
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to access, interact, and give feedback to a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Able to research, interpret, explain, and correctly apply regulations, rules, and standard procedures
  • Able to make decisions independently on non-standardized tasks
  • Minimum 2-4 years relevant experience

Preferred Requirements:

    • Familiar with Waste Handling, Packaging and EPA/DEQ regulations
    • Familiar with Water Treatment Systems and Water Treatment Chemicals
