Job Description and Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Supervisor – Machining and Mechanical Testing to join our growing team at our Portland, OR location.  This position will supervise and direct lab, machining and CNC personnel.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a safe work environment by utilizing inspections, safety contacts, and providing/attending regular meetings to ensure safe working conditions
  • Scheduling machine shop and laboratory manpower consistent with the requirements of our shipping department to meet customer demand
  • Coordinating needed repairs with Maintenance department and ensuring that routine maintenance tasks including tooling condition checks are completed by the lab techs
  • Ensuring that Visual Standard Work is consistently followed to machine and test samples that meet or exceed specifications
  • Utilize Oracle system to write PO and requisitions



Job Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma required
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role required
  • Basic computer skills/ proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, IVARA, and other company based programs)
  • Previous Machine, Tools, and Equipment Skills: CNC, Lathes, Mills or mechincal/ technical background required
  • Strong mathematical capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with ISO quality standards preferred
  • Ability to learn, lead and direct a crew of production employees
  • Ability to work effectively with other departments
  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing tools and concepts to continuously reduce waste.
  • Ensuring the teams put safety first, creating a proactive culture with regards to eliminating potential hazards
  • Ability to work in an environment with fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust & noise.
  • Solid understanding of flow, cycle times, bottlenecks and quick changeovers
  • Must be able to problem solve and collaborate in a team environment
  • Strong leadership/supervisory skills with the proven ability to motivate and guide a team in the accomplishment of Key Performance Indicators
  • Must be able to identify the root cause of problems and implement solutions in a timely manner
