Shredder Operator

City: Winnipeg / State: Manitoba                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). Job Description and Responsibilities

 

General Scrap has an immediate opening for a Shredder Operator at our Winnipeg location. This is a physically demanding role that is performed in all weather conditions. This position is for the afternoon shift with a work schedule of Monday-Friday from 3:30 pm to 12:30 am.

  • Observe/Practice all company safety rules and policies
  • Ability to multi task in a progressive environment
  • Mechanically inclined. Capable of troubleshooting and light mechanical repairs
  • Responsible for greasing/lubricating equipment associated to the Shredder Production Line
  • Work closely with Feed Stock Operators
  • Responsible for maintaining a productive and consistent flow of material through the Shredder Production Line
  • Monitor flow of product from a raw material state through to the finished product
  • Responsible for general clean up
  • Responsible for accurately documenting daily delays
  • Responsible for productivity and safety of Shredder Line Pickers
  • Understand difference of Shred Grade and Heavy Steel Grade product
  • Assist in hammer flips and changes
  • Assist in rotor and grate changes



 



Job Requirements

 

  • No experience necessary but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard/auto part environment will be considered an asset
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds throughout the day
  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
  • Willingness to learn and work responsibly following all safety procedures
  • Ability to monitor and motivate pickers
  • A proven history of reliability
  • Mentally alert to surroundings
  • Good attention to detail and quality control
  • Able and willing to work afternoons 3:30 pm – 12:00 am
