Senior Project Controls Engineer

City: Pueblo / State: Colorado                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). Job Description and Responsibilities

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Controls Engineer to join our growing team in Pueblo, Colorado. Rated as one of the best places to live, Pueblo is located at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek – just south of Colorado Springs.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Project Controls Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop the master project schedule (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning). Integrate Supplier project schedule submittals into master schedule. Review critical path, lag relationships, constraints, and milestones
  • Track all project issues as they relate to the master schedule and run diagnostics on Contractor schedules and master project schedule.
  • Interface with other groups to provide scheduling data for change order requests, bid comparisons, and resolving schedule problems. Perform detail schedule variance analysis. Develop and maintain project metrics (progress curves, labor histograms, etc.)
  • Develop procurement and contracting schedule, budgets and tracking system for all owner contracts, OEM purchases and services agreements.
  • Manage change control process and maintain project baselines.
  • Establish project baseline schedules, budgets, incorporate approved changes and maintain project forecast cost and completion.
  • Consolidate estimate input from project participants to assemble an overall project estimate, baseline change estimates and cost studies.
  • Develop and/or implement project procedures as needed and project control requirements for contractors, suppliers and owners team.
  • Lead/support efforts to hold suppliers and contractors accountable to contract provisions and participate in claims development and processing.
  • Evaluate cost and schedule impacts of proposed change requests from suppliers and contractors.
  • Provide weekly/monthly status reports to project management and corporate.
  • Perform additional assignments at direction of site project leadership



 



Job Requirements

 

 

  • BS/BA Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum of 5-years’ experience in construction scheduling, preferably with large industrial projects
  • Hands-on proficiency in Primavera Project Planner (P6) required. Experience with Excel, MS Project, and Word also needed
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of concepts and products developed for project management, i.e.: resource charts, pert charts, Gantt charts, concepts of float, schedule status, revisions, budgets, committed and actual costs, forecasts, etc.
  • Must have experience working with resource loading schedules, contractor generated baseline schedules, time impact analyses, cost status and reporting, and earned value management reporting
  • Must have a working knowledge of how to read engineering / construction drawings
  • Must understand how project and Supplier work-scopes are sequenced, constructed and commissioned
  • Ability to convert schedules from one format to another (P6 to Microsoft Project)
  • Possess excellent schedule analysis, trouble shooting, and forecasting skills
  • Experience and ability to consolidate independently generated project data effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Able to coordinate multiple work schedules (i.e. the 5 day 8 hour, 4 day 10 hour, 9 day 80 hour, and other work schedules as applicable); Must be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Additional knowledge in databases a plus
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be a team player
  • Skills: Critical Path Method (CPM), Project Management, Field Operations, Scheduling, MS Office, OSHA, experience in Construction is required. Individual to be based at site office.
