Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ NA currently seeks a Rolling Mill Supervisor to join our growing team at our Portland, OR location!  

The Rolling Mill Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring crew on a shift basis and overseeing that policy and procedure are followed to ensure timely production of quality plate/coils in accordance to Safety rules/policy. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage personnel to ensure compliance with safety procedures, company policy and work procedures
  • Responsible for training, developing, motivating, instructing and documenting the performance of shift personnel in execution of their responsibilities
  • Prioritize maintenance and work closely with maintenance personnel to maintain timely production and quality standards
  • Work with Shipping Dept. to best handle product flow and disposition material
  • Ensure all Rolling Mill standard practices and Safety policies (SJP) are followed
  • Maintain constant awareness of customer requirements, dimension, grade, runouts, roll practices, process memos and all mill equipment to produce quality plate and coil
  • Investigate and document product failures and develop solution to correct and improve product quality and flow
  • Drive production to meet volume goals and production standards of various products
  • Assess equipment needs daily and communicate those needs to the Mill General Supervisor and Maintenance
  • Make decisions concerning the product and equipment independently up to and including stopping production
  • Work closely with General Supervisor and Maintenance to assist in developing policy for Safety and job practices



Job Requirements

  • Must have at least two years leadership/ supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment OR three  years of experience in the Rolling Mill
  • Open to new college graduates with manufacturing focused degrees and proven leadership skills
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be available for all rotating shifts
  • Familiar with ASTM standards
  • Familiar with Safety standards and procedures
  • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Applications)
  • Previous experience/background with CMMS preferred
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise.
