Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ NA is seeking a Melt Shop General Supervisor to join our team located at our plant in Pueblo, Colorado.  The Melt Shop General Supervisor will work closely with the Steel Making team to ensure the operation runs safely, efficiently and effectively. The right candidate will be responsible for increasing productivity and controlling cost while at the same time responding to customer requirements and ensuring high quality on meeting customer needs and a champion for safety and creates an environment that recognizes the safety as a key initiative.     

  • Directly responsible for managing 120+ hourly and 9 salary employees in a 24/7 shift operations 
  • Responsible for all safety related issues and enforced all company safety rules
  • Participates with the Human Resources Department to identify the training needs of the operation; delivers appropriate training to maintain a competent and motivated workforce and provides employee cross training
  • Responsible for development and implementation of staffing needs for all hourly and salary production staff
  • Fosters a culture of trust, teamwork, responsibility, high expectations and open communications
  • Directs, trains, coaches, and assists employees in delivering performance objectives;  communicates, supports, and enforces company policies; interviews employees, evaluates performance, rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of safety, quality and cost improvement activities focused on achieving Business Plan and AIP’s
  • Oversees the developing and administering procedures to ensure a safe and positive working environment
  • Provides operational direction and leadership to plant supervision; defines operational methods and develops supporting operation procedures
  • Follows and helps improve Environmental Management, Quality Management, and Safety Management systems to improve performance
  • Develops and administers manufacturing policies, procedures, and practices required to support the Business Plan



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • 5-7 years of Leadership and managerial experience in a steel industry
  • Problem solving skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suites
  • Proven decision making skills
  • Experience in the management of 6S projects and sustaining
  • BA/BS Degree in Metallurgy, Engineering or related
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Oracle or similar software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Oracle or similar software
