Maintenance Reliability Director

City: Regina / State: Saskatchewan                                                   


At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ NA is seeking an experienced maintenance leader to transform our maintenance operations across Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible to design, develop and implement an asset maintenance plan that includes preventative and predictive methodologies and MOC (management of change). In this role you will drive strategic decisions for the business with the outcome of improving overall reliability and asset effectiveness. Reporting to the SVP Canadian Operations, this new role will oversee maintenance leaders located at each of our Canadian sites.

  • Develop and implement an asset maintenance plan for Canadian Operations that includes: Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), maintenance planning and scheduling, root cause analysis, improvement through Lean Six Sigma techniques and other best practices
  • Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities to continuously improve maintenance practices, increase MTBF and Operational Availability. Develop and implement improvements, establish, monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Develop equipment performance standards, including condition reports verifying operating procedures, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), spare parts availability and other supportability analyses consistent with a proactive reliability centered maintenance strategy
  • Identify improvement opportunities and lead teams to action improvements
  • Manage maintenance teams including performance management, drive employee engagement strategies to produce a positive culture that demonstrates the EVRAZ’s Core Values
  • Develop internal and external resources and capabilities to drive the improvement of asset reliability and the performance of the maintenance team
  • Provide technical assistance to Plant Maintenance Managers and Unit Process Managers, Shift Managers and Superintendents  and provide recommendations for the upgrading of obsolete equipment, plant expansions and procedure changes
  • Drive operational excellence in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost
  • Lead the planning and budgeting process
  • Manage spare parts strategy including selection of appropriate spare part management programs and target inventory levels
  • Ensure fulfillment of agreed level of equipment reliability and availability
  • Train employees on reliability best practices to increase operational effectiveness, reduce risk, and optimize costs
  • Proactively work to reduce safety risks while creating a safety first culture
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on capital projects



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Engineering degree coupled with a minimum of 10-15 years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Sound familiarity with instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment combined with considerable experience developing and executing a reliability centered maintenance program in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • 5 or more years of experience managing maintenance teams in multiple sites, experience with unionized environments preferred
  • Proven track record of improving TOEE 
  • Trained in Lean and other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient with computer maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as SAP and Maximo 
  • Collaborative leader, with ability to build effective relationships within maintenance and across functions (manufacturing, warehouse, planning, engineering, quality assurance and research and development)
