At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ North America is expanding our transportation and logistics team. We are hiring a Logistics Manager at our Regina location. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the transportation team and managing all site transportation related functions. The Logistics Manager will partner with Planning, Operations and Supply Chain teams to meet company objectives and customer requirements. This position reports to the Logistics Director.

  • Negotiate annual railroad contracts, trucking rates Port of Vancouver agreements
  • Coordinate logistic aspects of raw material purchases with the Manager of Products and Resources, outside vendors and shipping agents
  • Maintain current database of transportation freight costs for use by Sales to quote customers and Accounting for invoicing purposes
  • Maintain files containing contracts and records of all raw material purchases
  • Work collaboratively with Purchasing and Stores personnel to arrange economical and effective methods of shipping goods required to support production, maintenance and plant service
  • Coordinate logistics of raw material purchases
  • Review and authorize invoices for payment
  • Ensure timely and effective availability and flow of equipment necessary to meet customer order requirements with Sales, Shipping and all related manufacturing and support departments
  • Respond to claims pricing inquiries and be able to review and authorize invoices for payment



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business preferred
  • Five or more years of steel products purchasing, transportation and production planning experience preferred
  • Experience managing direct reports, coaching and mentoring teams
  • Demonstrated experience in the negotiation of contracts, agreements and rates
  • Ability to plan, organize and execute schedules in a changing environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised toward company goals
  • Ability to work in a group environment
  • Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Client focused with excellent problem solving abilities
  • A strong track record of delivering results in a demanding fast-paced environment
