At EVRAZ North America, we manufacture engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

 

 



Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ North America has an new opening for Logistics Director. The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end Logistics encompassing distribution operations and inbound/outbound transportation planning and management in support of EVRAZ's Canadian operations. The incumbent will possess a solid understanding of and best practices related to Logistics organization and operations spanning supply base to final delivery. This position can work from our Calgary, Winnipeg or Regina office's.  This role will report to the Vice President, Transportation & Logistics.

  • Full ownership of the transportation supply chain, including: business relationships, new supplier selection, contracting and performance-related controls as well as strategic sourcing inclusive of purchased transportation
  • Modeling, forecasting, planning and reporting on lane capacity ensuring supply to our customer requirements
  • Collaborate with finance to build the annual operating plan (detailed, line-item budgeting) for all aspects of logistics
  • Maintain category leading on-time delivery as the primary key performance indicator (KPI) owner; balance costs against on-time performance
  • Responsible for understanding the commercial and operational strategies; forecast for and develop the distribution footprint and capabilities required to support strategies
  • Administration and management of transformation management systems (TMS)
  • Focus on carrier safety, compliance and contract negotiation
  • Carrier management including third party logistics operations management (procurement, lane management, freight billing, audit and payment). Full Truckload (FTL) and all facets of rail operations, contracts, billing, on-time and transit analytics performance, centralized freight filing and resolution
  • US Customs compliance: Capacity management and demand plan, seaport, vessel, transloading and warehouse transfers
  • Develop and manage annual department budgets and forecasting
  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly carrier meeting management
  • Willing to travel to sites globally, estimated at 20% travel per quarter
  • In tune with market trends to provide industry analysis and reporting
  • Stay current on Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations such as hours of service and legal weight limits as well as the Association of America Rail Roads (ARR) Open Top Loading Rules



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering or Business Management
  • 10+ years of progressive accountability in transportation, distribution and supply chain management in a field-based operation with multiple origins of similar size and complexity
  • Experience leading a multi-site distribution network in a diversified industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing direct reports, coaching and mentoring teams (locally and remotely), indirect reports and others across the organization
  • Advanced understanding of economic and financial drivers related to logistics
  • Third-party logistics (3PL) and private internal fleet transportation management experience
  • Adept at establishing and maintaining executive level KPI reporting including volume, performance and compliance
  • Strong project management, analytical and organizational skills
  • High degree of attention to detail and ability to project focus and shift as required
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written with a professional demeanor
  • A strong track record of delivering results in a demanding fast-paced environment
  • Steel related experience is considered beneficial
  • Six Sigma and Lean experience is desirable
  • 50% travel will be required
