Job Description and Responsibilities

 

EVRAZ NA has an opening for an Industrial Engineering Intern to join our Tubular Products Group Engineering team for a four, eight or twelve month term. The Industrial Engineering Intern will assist on various CAPEX, Investment and improvement projects and contribute to the technical competence and production requirements of the manufacturing facilities. 

  • Work with the Continuous Improvement department and in conjunction with other departments to improve safety, quality; production processes, reduce delays and costs, increase efficiency of operating equipment and area performance
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing, six sigma and A-3 problem solving techniques to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability and cost effectiveness
  • Design, develop, and implement control files and charts for production cycle times, product quality, equipment performance and down-time reduction
  • Utilize statistical means to optimize and improve performance
  • Help promote decision driven by data and facts instead of opinions
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Collect and coordinate useful information in an organize way
  • Participate in discussions with Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Actively embody EVRAZ’s culture and values



 



Job Requirements

 

  • Must be enrolled in a Engineering Degree program (Industrial, Manufacturing, Production or Mechanical) from a recognized university
  • Knowledge of engineering theory, lean manufacturing tools and problem solving techniques
  • Good experience with Microsoft Excel. To be able to develop macros is desirable
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet established deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of personal initiative and ownership of results, desire to work on a high performing team in a fast-paced industrial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization exhibiting a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and succinctly
  • Flexibility in acceptance of assignments and schedules; desire to learn new skills and expand competencies.
