Job Duties:          

Responsible for the design, development and implementation of Electrical Process Engineering systems (hardware and software) to improve product quality, process efficiency and mill productivity. Work with mill process control coordinators to provide data collection and automation for key Electrical Process Engineering parameters. Work to establish a database with automated consolidated reporting of key parameters. Additionally, develop an automated Conformance to Standards report that can be communicated on a shift-by-shift basis to each department within a mill. Also develop recommendations for the improvement of the existing Level I and II system (programmable logic controller (PLC) human-machine interface (HMI) network). Ensure key parameters are provided for use by other information systems (level 2 to level 3), including writing requirement, design criteria, and system architecture specifications so vendors can appropriately bid on projects. Work with equipment vendors (software and hardware) to provide project proposals. When appropriate, develop ERMS expense justification documentation to support project funding, as well as attend process technology conferences/seminars to keep informed of Electrical Process Engineering techniques/advancements in the broader manufacturing industry. 

5% travel required per year. Mostly domestic travel and a few international trips to monitor program execution of projects, as well as witness and validate the factory acceptance tests from third party equipment acquired by EVRAZ.

 

Requirements:    

The position of Electrical Process Engineer requires a Bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering or a related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in a steel mill or heavy manufacturing industry implementing process control technology.

 

Additionally, the applicant must have: 1 year of experience with an electrical arc furnace and continuous casting machine and Digitarc-PX3 software, improving process controls and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions through data analysis, as well as experience with tension, current, load sharing and motion systems; Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), across many platforms of controllers, configuring hardware, developing software in ladder logic, block diagrams and structured text. Additionally, selecting and configuring discrete, analog and motion control hardware; Experience with capital project management including defining, designing, executing, implementing, generating proposals, functional descriptions and budgets. In addition developing detail engineering and control software, selecting and installing hardware as well as starting up and commissioning, all while controlling cost; Experience using, configuring and selecting HMI Software and Hardware as well as experience with SQL database and process data acquisition (ibaPDA) to develop software, graphics animations and troubleshooting system malfunctions; Experience with control theory as well as designing, selecting and configuring software and process instrumentation that best integrates with legacy systems, as well as selecting between different networked communication protocols and troubleshooting malfunctions on any devices; and Experience with industrial networks and electrical drives and motors, evaluating and selecting the hardware, developing engineering using Visio and AutoCAD software, installing hardware, commissioning and being able to troubleshoot system malfunctions.
