Job Description and Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented and experienced Director of Logistics to oversee end-to-end logistics for our mills in Colorado and Oregon. The successful candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of rail and truck logistics, leadership skills to influence others, and experience to drive transformational change and continuous improvement. The candidate will work closely with sales, production, planning, finance and accounting to manage costs and deliver products on time. The successful candidate will be a key member of the supply chain leadership team and will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and Recycling.

  • Lead organizational and functional transformations and continuous improvement
  • Manage multiple teams of logistics and transportation personnel
  • Oversee truck and rail car supply and drive improvement in demand forecasting
  • Optimize logistics cost and improve delivery performance
  • Establish a safety culture through awareness and training
  • Serve as a senior company representative in customer and supplier discussions
  • Provide thought leadership on logistics and supply chain topics
  • Foster strong relationships with railroad and trucking companies
  • Evaluate budgets and expenditures and negotiate contracts and rates
  • Ensure all operations adhere to laws, guidelines, and customer requirements



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business or other analytical field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, 5+ years of logistics in manufacturing, with a leading steel, diversified industrial, automotive, chemicals company required
  • Leadership role with experience managing resources remotely
  • Proven track record delivering results in dynamic, ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to instilling a culture of safety
  • Strong analytical, collaboration, teaming and influencing skills
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, process orientation, and professional maturity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and executive presence
  • 50-75% travel within North America required
